Color Focus: Emerald Green

By now we are certain you have heard that Pantone named emerald green the color of the year for 2013. We are more than a little excited about it here at ravens • fête. In fact, one of us (which one is not important) had a mad color fetish for emerald green in the early '90s making it her mission to wear emerald green for her entire junior year. Although she didn't quite succeed in this plan, she did acquire some great emerald green items: an emerald velvet vintage blazer, a pair of thigh-high suede emerald green boots, and a slightly garish emerald ring.
We are going to take a moment to focus on this peaceful, yet glamorous, hue. Green is a symbol of fertility, nature, health and good fortune. Infusing emerald green into your life adds a bit of calm and brilliance.

This dress paired with a leather jacket is both elegant and edgy.

We adore this emerald crinoline skirt.

Winter White Weddings

Winter seems to be the underdog season for weddings. Spring, summer and fall get all the glory due to comfortable temperatures and beautiful foliage. However, winter should not be disregarded for nuptials and is perfect for the unconventional couple. When planning a winter wedding you will not be plagued with the worry of surprise downpours or blustery breezes. With winter's wrath in mind, a comfortable location is paramount along with a focus on creating warm ambiance. Furthermore,a winter bride can adorn herself with some extra statement pieces, letting her individual style show through as she wards off the elements.

Of course, classic Hunter boots in metallic silver are the perfect footwear for a snowy wedding day. The benefit of these is that you can wear them again & again.

Amador Vintners' Dinner

We are excited to share photos from a recent dinner party we designed for the Amador Vintners. The annual dinner is held after the "Big Crush" to show the association's appreciation to its thirty-seven member wineries. The Vintners Association prepared the food and we asked one of the private chefs we work with to create a few tasty hors d'oeuvres to complement the evening's hearty fare.

The paper cones, made from brown paper and twine, held handcrafted chocolate.

The wonderful assortment of pumpkins were generously donated by Amador Flower Farm.

Manzanita, burlap, candles, pumpkins and chestnuts were used in abundance.

Two long tables were each set for thirty-five.

We made the gold cake stands from clear glass plates and candlesticks. We simply attached the candlesticks to the plates and sprayed them gold, then we mounded chestnuts on top.

Although difficult to see, this is an 8-feet tall manzanita chandelier. We strung 1,000 clear lights on the branches, welded a hanging apparatus to the base and turned it upside down.

We made two rustic chalkboards, trimmed them with rope and attached them to the rafters. We placed one board over the wine station and another over the food buffet. The food & wine stations were created with wine barrels and antique doors.

We would like to thank the Amador Vintners, E. Peterson & Company, Amador Flower Farm, Mike O'Neill and Chef Jason Clevenger for helping us make the night a success!
